Associate Project Manager, Construction

Scout Cold Logistics is a real estate investment and development firm dedicated to temperature-controlled infrastructure. The company invests in grocery distribution, food production and non-food perishable facilities throughout the United States. Scout is headquartered in Coral Gables, FL.

The Associate Project Manager, Construction will be an integral part of the entrepreneurial team leading the investment in and development of Class-A cooler and freezer facilities around America. 

The main responsibilities of the Associate PM are job supervision, project documentation, and supporting construction budgeting, scheduling, and managing the construction of cooler and freezer tenant improvements and new construction to ensure on-time and on-budget completion with the highest quality and safety standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend routine Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC), subcontractor and other project update meetings, summarizing key progress and issues.
  • Conduct routine site visits and document construction progress with photographs, notes, etc.
  • Keep team members informed of all aspects of ongoing projects, especially budget and schedule risks, through weekly reports, meetings, and day-to-day communications.
  • Assist with job cost and project reporting, contractor payment application processes (including collection of lien waivers and all other required documentation), change orders and all other aspects of managing all jobs as the Owner’s Representative.
  • Assist with bidding, negotiating, contracting, and managing construction testing and other consultants.
  • Support in responding to RFPs for leasing opportunities with accurate and timely conceptual plans, outline specifications, pricing estimates and schedules.
  • Assist in reviewing of proposals and contract documents.
  • Grow career and develop knowledge in refrigeration and freezer construction methodology and pricing through on-the-job experience and training opportunities.
  • Assist with program development and maintenance associated with national dry and cold building pricing data, utility upgrades, and CAD as-built drawing documentation.
  • Coordination with in-house accounting personnel and company-established protocols.
  • Uphold Scout’s standards of construction and safety excellence.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Competencies:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year College or University in a related field (Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or similar)

Language Skills:

  • Fluency in spoken and written English is required. Ability to speak Spanish preferred.
  • Ability to effectively represent Scout Cold and work integrally with GC’s, Architects, City Officials, and our customers to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries and complaints from customers, regulatory government agencies or members of the business community.
  • Ability to foresee problems and proactively manage such for the best possible outcome.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Solid mathematical skills required including the ability to create, manage and analyze budgets, project accounting, drawing documents, and reports.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to listen to customers and partners, define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and solve problems.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AIA, and Microsoft Project is required.
  • AutoCad experience is preferred but not required.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) is preferred but not required.
